Bernd grew up in the world’s capital of water sports on Maui. He started windsurfing when he was 7 years old and from there grew up with a passion for being in the ocean. Bernd has had much success within the windsurfing industry scoring a 1st in the windsurfing championships. Bernd took up Stand-Up Paddling as another outlet to satisfy his addiction to the ocean and has since become a double-threat in the SUP world, excelling in both surfing and racing with a huge passion for downwind racing.

Bernd has been rooted in Stand-Up Paddling for the majority of his life; he has raced in Battle of the Paddle since the age of 12, he has competed on the Stand-Up World Series multiple times and has proved he is one of the best in the world by ranking second at the Gorge Paddle Challenge in 2017 behind Connor Baxter. When he is not in the water honing one of his many crafts, Bernd is building surfboards for himself and his friends.
