Caio Vaz was taught to surf by his father when he 4 years old, which marked the beginning of an 11 year competitive shortboard career. It was within this time that he began training with Caio Monteiro. Caio took some time out of the water to pursue a very promising modelling career which culminated with a cover on ID magazine. His success in front of the camera did not falter however as Caio has since had an illustrious acting career.
At 17, Caio lost his sponsorship for competing within the shortboard category, but he never stopped going to the beach as that was what he loved doing. The Vaz family then took on Stand Up Paddling together and Caio has gone from strength to strength. He was crowned champion at the 2014 Stand Up World Series Sunset Beach Pro and came second overall that year. Caio is now considered as one of the best Stand Up Paddle surfers in the world and more generally a well-rounded, successful waterman.
