Keahi de Aboitiz has always had a passion for the ocean. Growing up in the iconic surf town of Noosa, Australia, it wasn’t long before he discovered surfing and fell in love with it. He spent his youth longboarding Noosa’s world class point breaks. However, there were too many down days between swells, and the little surf town was becoming overcrowded.

That was when he turned to kiting. His dad was involved in the sport early on, opening the first kite shop and school in Australia, so naturally, Keahi picked it up. At age 11 he learned how to fly a kite and quickly began to find his feet in the sport. After winning an open national title at age 16, he decided to look beyond freestyle and discovered wave kiting, rekindling his love for the surf. From then on, Keahi has focused on competing in wave events and chasing swells around the world. In 2011 he became the PKRA wave champion during his first year on tour. He then went on to win four consecutive world titles on the KSP and PKRA World Tours.

But this still wasn’t enough for Keahi. While managing a successful kiting career, he also got into SUP surfing at the age of 16 and has been pushing the boundaries of the sport ever since. In 2011 he scored the first perfect 10 point ride of the SUP World Tour and went on to earn some impressive results in competition. 

In more recent years, Keahi has found a love for pushing the limits in heavy waves on both SUPs and shortboards, making top 10 of the prestigious Wave of the Winter competition in Hawaii in 2016. He was also one of the early adopters of hydrofoil surfing and has become known for his unique and smooth style in the discipline. Keahi’s passion and talents across all these ocean sports makes him a true, new generation waterman.
