About
Leco Salazar was born Santos and grew up in the ocean being taught to surf by his professional surfer father. Since he was 6 years old, Leco has competed in surfing competitions on his short board and at the age of 15 began competing in longboard competitions and ultimately became the Santos champion in this sport for multiple years.
He started SUP surfing when Brian Keaulana held a SUP championship in his hometown in 2008, which his father won. Following in his father’s footsteps, Leco has had an incomparable career, often being labelled as one of the best SUP surfers of all time. He won the world championship in 2012 and is a 3 X Brazilian Champion. Leco’s talent is thankfully being passed on to the next generation, as he spends a lot of his time teaching SUP at his father’s surf school.
