Matheus Salazar grew up in Santos, Brazil with his family which includes SUP World Champion, Leco Salazar, and his surfer father who has 169 victories around the world. With role models like that, it is no surprise that Matheus starting surfing when he was just 3 years old. Competitions came soon after with Matheus competing in shortboarding and longboarding events all through his childhood and adolescence.

After watching his brother dominate in the Stand-Up Paddle industry, Matheus was inspired and took up the sport for himself and has never stopped since. Since then, the Brazilian Bros have competed together on the SUP world circuit and have taken the industry by storm. Matheus was Brazilian Champion in 2013 and Vice-champion in 2018 but is training hard with the ultimate goal to follow in Leco’s footsteps of becoming the World Champion.
