About
Sebastian Gomez learnt to surf before he even knew how to swim, which was a natural progression for a child who is the offspring of a professional big wave rider father and a surfer mum. It is in the Gomez blood to be a successful surfer as Sebastian’s wider family is full of renowned surfers.
Sebastian was riding shortboards until his father took him to Chicama, the longest left in the world, where he tried SUP for the first time and realised that he was able to catch better and bigger waves with less fear and more stability. From there, he gained the courage to start competing, his first competition being the Pacasmayo Classic 2011. This ignited his competitive fire and he has not stopped training and competing since with the ultimate ambition to becoming the SUP World Champion. Sebastian is not far off his goal proved by his second place in the 2018 Pan-American Games, a 3rd in the APP World Tour Gran Canaria Pro-Am. In 2018 he was ranked 6th in the world, proving his serious potential to become the best.
