Tamil Martino grew up in Lima, Peru and was immediately drawn to sports in his childhood including biking and skating. Tamil began surfing at age ten and started competing two years later. After seeing people SUP surf on beaches that he had visited all over the world, the sport piqued his interest. He borrowed a SUP board off his friend in 2011 and he started competing in 2012. Two years after trying SUP for the first time, in 2013, he won the silver medal at is the ISA championships- an impressive turn around, showcasing his raw talent for the sport.

Tamil has gone from strength to strength in the sport as he was crowned LatinAmerican Champion in 2017, won a silver medal at the PanAmerican games in 2019 and ranked 3rd in the APP Barbados SUP Pro in 2019. He has taken his array of experience in water sports and has created his own brand called Ocean Master which specialises in SUP boards and paddles.
