About
Tommasso Pampinella was born in Rome in 1994 and grew up with his two sisters and brother. Before dedicating his life to SUP, Tommasso was a professional gymnast and competed for Italy with the end-goal of becoming an Olympic athlete. When Tommasso was 22, he broke his shoulder, which hindered his gymnastic career.
Alongside gymnastics, Tommasso has always had a passion for the ocean, having surfed since he was 10 years old. He pursued SUP after his shoulder injury initially for therapeutic reasons, but immediately fell for the sport and started competing. Since then, Tommasso devoted his life to training with the new goal of becoming a pro SUP athlete. His training paid off as he become the Italian champion in 2017 and 2018 earning himself a coveted spot on the Italian national team.
JP Australia locked in this budding athlete for their international team after Tommasso ranked 2nd in the Paris crossing event. He has also dipped his toe into the APP World Tour competing in London and Paris but took the world by storm in claiming third place in APP’s virtual competition, APP Fast Track, earning himself a spot on the APP All Stars trip.
