About
Wellington Reis was born in Sergipe in Brazil and spent his childhood bush hunting, surprisingly living nowhere near the coast. He visited the beach for the first time when he was 10 years old and started surfing when he was 11 with his friend and SUP phenom, Marcio Grillo, who eventually convinced him to try stand up paddling. In his first ever competition, where he had to borrow a board to compete, Wellington made it to the final, already proving his talent for the sport.
Wellington has however not relied on this talent; it is his insatiable motivation which has allowed him to excel on the world stage. In his first ever APP event in New York he ranked 5th place, which was followed by making the final at Sunset Beach and then making history by winning the Gran Canaria Pro-Am. The Brazilian dynamo was crowned Vice-champion of the APP World Tour in 2019, confirming his world class style.
