About the event

The Maui SEA Open will mark the homecoming of the APP World Tour to the birthplace of Stand-Up Paddling with a World Tour Championship stop and a three-day think tank event focussed on the environment.

Pro, Pro-Am and Amateur Competition

The Maui S.E.A Open will kick off in the paradise that is the North Shore of Maui with surf sprints in Ho’okipa. The event delivered world-class action back in 2016 and 2017 as the pros battled the waves, the wind, and each other. It will be an inevitable battle of the elements that promises a spectacle for audiences around the world.

Then the athletes will embark upon the Maliko Run, the holy grail of downwind paddling that sees athletes paddle 10 miles in some of the best downwind paddling conditions you will find. There will be amateur and open categories for each race, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Both events of the Grand Slam will feature holding periods to ensure the best conditions for both the downwind races and surf sprints.

S.E.A Event (Sport, Environment, Action)

Alongside world championship competition, we will be embracing the entirety of Hawaiian culture and will be hosting a weekend full of environmentally focussed events and presentations.

S.E.A Events are 3-day environment focused events set to the backdrop of World Championship Competition. Instead of a reactive approach to major environmental issues, S.E.A events aim to inspire conversation and initiate proactive change, from local initiatives to global action.

There is a full-weekend of environmentally focussed activities including presentations from two legeneds of the sport,  Kai Lenny and Zane Schweitzer, as well as daily yoga clinics, think-tank sessions and on-water sessions.

This event has a group. You’re welcome to join the group once you register for the event.
